John 1:8

He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

Have you ever been involved in a case of mistaken identity? A time when you thought you knew who someone was but they turned out to be someone else!?

Confused?!?!

For the people back in Jesus’ time it was confusing too. They were looking for a Saviour and regularly people would come along with some new ideas about God’s people and His Kingdom. The crowds were not sure if this person was the Messiah they were waiting for or just an imposter.

Did you know that Jesus is coming again? He regularly talked to His disciples about it and warned them that others would pretend to be Him, but when Jesus comes again, we’ll know it! And it will be so obvious that we won’t be wondering whether it’s Him or not - all His sons and daughters in the world will bow down and worship!

In the meantime, while we wait for Jesus’ return, we have the Bible so we can read about His life. But the great news is that we don’t have to wait to see His power and love working all around us - we can see that now! Previously we thought about how we can be witnesses for Jesus, how we can tell others about Him. But we can also witness Him at work in our everyday lives - right here, right now.

PROMPT: So today, keep your eyes and ears open! Look for signs of Jesus in you and all around you. Write them in your journal, think about them at bedtime and look forward to the day when the whole world will witness Jesus again.
